Green Retrofit Advisory Committee
Approved by the Los Angeles City Council in 2009, the City of Los Angeles Green Retrofit and Workforce Development effort is a first-in-the-nation program, which creates jobs, improves public health, and revitalizes Los Angeles by remodeling city-owned buildings to be more energy and water efficient. The Program creates a pathway to good, green, and safe jobs for workers in low-income communities, and adds value to municipal buildings.
CCA convened the UCLA Community Scholars class in 2009, 2010 and 2011, which brought together policymakers, labor representatives and students to shape the 2009 Los Angeles Green Retrofit Ordinance and discuss issues relevant to the new green economy. CCA currently provides technical assistance to the Green Retrofit Advisory Committee, which guides the LA Green Retrofit Program.
CCA provides research, conducts workshops, provides support to construction contractors to help them grow their businesses. CCA provides support and information around contract compliance, policy issues, and business development. CCA is particularly committed to providing leadership development opportunities to small business, minority and women contractors.
